After hearing Colin Stough audition with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” Katy Perry told the young country artist he was sprinked in stardust.
Predicted Lionel Richie: “This (American Idol) is going to change your life.”
Colin, 18, of Gattman, Mississippi, wasn’t so certain.
In a recent interview with WTOK-TV, he recalls returning home after being named to the Top 26 and telling folks back home that he probably wouldn’t make it through the next round.
“It was like that for every round, which is obviously just a self-confidence problem,” Colin says in the interview. “I never thought I’d be going into the finale.”
He is, of course, and Sunday night he’ll be competing against Iam Tongi and Megan Danielle for the Season 21 Idol title.
He’s heading into the finale with momentum too. He’s delivered some of his best performances on the show over the course of the past two weeks.
And his new single, “I Still Talked To Jesus,” dropped Friday and soared up the Apple Music charts, cracking the Top 20 overall and the Top 5 on the country singles chart.
Here’s a look back at Colin’s American Idol performances.
