And to think, the American Idol judges made Megan Danielle participate in a sing-off just to make the voting rounds on American Idol Season 21.

That was after the Top 40 performed in the Showstopper round and the judges were picking their Top 26.

Faced with a glut of talented female singers, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie decided Megan should sing off with Paige Anne to see which singer advanced.

Both performed Adele’s “Easy on Me.” The judges decided to advance. (Paige Anne wound up doing so as well after a male contestant left the competition).

A little more than a month and nine performances later, Megan, 20, of Douglasville, Ga., will compete for the American Idol title Sunday night.

Back in the spring of 2020, Megan competed on The Voice and wound up making the semifinals (Top 9) before being eliminated.

After the show, she found herself singing with a country band, performing in bars and pretending to be someone she wasn’t.

So she decided to focus exclusively on Christian music and released a debut Christian country single called “All Around” in February 2022.

Here’s a look back at Megan’s American Idol performances.
