Abi Carter, winner of Season 22 of American Idol, has a new single out and is heading out on tour
And on tour, she’ll be accompanied by some familiar faces — Carter J. Rubin, Julia Gagnon and Cate Gartner — one of whom will be the opening act at each show.
Carter won Season 19 of The Voice at age 15. Julia and Cate were fellow contestants with Abi on Season 22 of Idol.
The tour includes 15 dates and begins in Houston on Oct. 13. It includes stops in Pittsburgh (Oct. 28) and Philly (Oct. 29). Carter will be the opening act at those two shows.
Tickets are available on Abi’s website and there’s a meet-and-greet option as well.
Post-Idol, Abi released an excellent debut album, “Ghosts in the Backyard,” late last year.
She dropped “2009 Barbie Dreamhouse,” her first single since, earlier this month. The video landed last week. Check it out below. She calls it “probably my favorite song I’ve ever written.”
And she’ll follow up with another single, “Melancholia Sober,” on Oct. 10.

Do you remember when “Idol” did official tours?
They had the top ten of Seasons 1-11.
Nobody was an opening act.
Now it’s a mix of “Idol” and “Voice” alums.

Jessica Sanchez was a ringer. She also had previously appeared on “AGT” and released an album after Idol. She had an unfair advantage over the other contestants.
