It won’t really be an album, Adam said. It will be an EP including  three to five songs.

Original post: Adam Lambert is planning to release an acoustic album before Christmas.

Idol’s season eight runner-up told Austalian TV personality Dylan Lewis that no definite release date has been set, but that the album will be released in the November-December time frame.

Adam said he’s been able to snag recordings from promo stops where he performed “stripped-back” versions of his songs with just a drummer and guitar. Those will be used, along with some acoustic recordings from his well-received Glam Nation Tour.

Given his stipped-back “Ring of Fire” and “Mad World” performances on Idol, I have no doubt the album will be a treat for the ears.

Other news from the interview …

* Adam has “theorized” about the followup studio album to “For Your Entertainment” and hopes to have it released by spring or summer of 2011.

* At the top of the list of people he’d like to collaborate with, but hasn’t yet: Christina Aguilera.

For those who can’t get enough Adam, he’ll also be featured on “E! True Hollywood Story” at 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21.

Of course, E! is promising all sorts of intriguing revelations during the interview, including Adam talking about his controversial American Music Awards performance, about the release of photos of him kissing another man during his run on Idol and about how he told his parents he was gay.

His parents and brother were also interviewed for the show.

“I’m very fortunate to have parents that recognized that I was different and recognized how I was special. They didn’t ever try to box me in,” Adam says in a press release promoting the show.

Update: AMA officials announced three more performers for this year’s show Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 27). Guess who isn’t among them?

Newly announced performers include Ke$ha, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. Previously announced: Pink, Bon Jovi, Usher and the aforementioned Christina Aguilera.

Meanwhile, for those who’d like to listen to Adam’s interview with Dylan Lewis, here it is.
