Adam Lambert announces 2nd album, new single

Adam Lambert has announced that his second studio album will be released in the spring of next year.

The album will be called “Trespassing” and will feature a song by the same name that he wrote with Pharrell, Adam told fans via Twitter last night.

Today he revealed the name of his first single from the album — “Better Than I Know Myself.”

No word yet on when the single will be released.

It’s been nearly two years since the guy who should have won season eight of American Idol released his debut album, “For Your Entertainment.”

The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, received generally positive reviews and produced two top 30 singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 — “Whataya Want from Me” and “If I Had You.”

He followed it up with the  brilliant “Glam Nation Live,” released in March of this year.

And here’s another bit of interesting news:  Adam will be a presenter on the American Music Awards Sunday night (8 p.m., ABC).

This would be the same American Music Awards show where he turned in his most foolish performance just two years ago.

I say foolish because that was the night many non-American Idol viewers saw Adam perform for the first time.

And instead of talking about his phenomenal vocal talent — that night’s vocal was not up to Adam Lambert standards — he found himself embroiled in controvery over onstage antics that had little to do with music.

Oh, well, nice to see ABC give him a second chance.
