Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry were in Singapore this weekend, performing as part of the events organized around the Singapore Formula One Race weekend.
Both are also touring internationally in the coming months. Daughtry has dates scheduled in Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and South Africa during the month of October.
Adam, meanwhile, is taking the Glam Nation tour on the road to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Melbourne and a host of other far-flung locales.
Minus Allison Iraheta, for those who wondered. Allison opened for Adam on the highly successful U.S. leg of the tour. This weekend, while he was in Singapore, she was singing the national anthem to kick off the NFL game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Adam has posted a message thanking fans for their support of his U.S. tour on his website. Both dates in this area — Wilkes-Barre and Baltimore — occurred early on in the tour and were sold out.
“The US Leg of my Glam Nation Tour is coming to a bittersweet end,” Adam writes on his website. “It’s been a fantastic summer sharing my music and vision with my passionate fans … The next chapter of the tour are the International dates … When I was recording my album it was very important to me to give it an International sound – something that would have a broad, universal appeal.”
And a good deal of appeal in the U.S. His album is still on the Billboard 200, 43 weeks after its release.
Chris and his band?
Their second album is still on the Billboard 200 — at number 99 compared to Adam’s 118 — 62 weeks after it was released.
Someone at Friday night’s David Archuleta concert asked me, essentially, what’s up with that? Why some Idol contestants who didn’t win are doing so much better than some who did?
Hey, no one ever said the best contestants win on American Idol.
