If an artist turned four chairs, he or she seemed drawn to Team Adam.
But not so far in Season 13. Entering Monday’s show, Jennifer Hudson had two four-chair turns on her team (Chris Weaver and Davon Fleming), Miley Cyrus had landed two (Brooke Simpson and Moriah Formica) and Blake Shelton had one (Keisha Renee).
Monday night, Adam finally won over a singer everyone wanted. Pop singer Jon Mero opted to join Team Adam after dazzling the coaches with his show-closing cover of “Versace on the Floor” by Bruno Mars.
Twelve singers landed spots on the show Monday, though we only got to meet nine of them. Katrina Rose and country singers Natalie Stovall and Ryan Scripps got the montage treatment.
Want to know how unfair montages are? Check out Natalie’s inside peek on how much time the singers invest in the blind auditions, something she sent out to fans before Monday’s episode.
And, wow, what great strategy, The Voice. Fans show season after season after season how much they enjoy the country performers featured on your show, and you decide to montage two of the most accomplished to make a team in Season 13.
Yep, that’s Emmy-winning decision making right there.
Here’s a recap of Monday’s show, with my picks for the top three performances. Check back tomorrow and I’ll let you know how all the songs did on iTunes.
1. Jon Mero
Song: “Versace on the Floor” by Bruno Mars
Chair turns: Jennifer Hudson, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turned early in the performance. Miley Cyrus later joined them, giving Jon a coveted four-chair turn.
Why: No doubt, Jon deserved those four chairs. He showed great range, great power and delivered a spot-on vocal throughout. He joined Team Adam Levine.

2. Chloe Komanski
Song: “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac
Chair turns: Miley Cyrus, Blake Shelton and Jennifer Hudson. Chloe stuck with her pre-performance preference and joined Team Miley.
Why: Loved her tone, loved the passion in her performance. Most of all I loved that rasp in her voice. Not to mention the song choice.

Why: Three words — that range! Incredible! And he stayed there for the entire second half of the performance.
