Season 12, Season 12 finals

Amber Holcomb finishes in front of Kree Harrison in an Idol stunner

4

Well, the insistent support for Amber Holcomb finally paid off on American Idol.

Somehow, some way, she finished in the top three and ahead of Kree Harrison in the Idol voting this week.

Folks, this favoritism toward Amber on Idol is out of control.

And it’s getting downright annoying.

Look, the 19-year-old from Houston is a talented singer.

Give Amber another year or two to hone her skills, and she might be worthy of winning American Idol.

By then, she might even look more comfortable on the Idol stage.

But this season? With this much female singing talent on the show?

No way.

Which is precisely what makes the over-the-top critiques she keeps getting so hard to swallow.

And never more so than Thursday night.

Let’s recap.

On Wednesday, Amber decides to sing “Without You,” which was covered by Mariah Carey back in 1994, the year Amber was born. She does not sing the song very well, a point only Nicki Minaj is gutsy enough to point out. In round two, she comes back with a much better performance of Barbra Streisand’s “What Are You Doing with the Rest of Your Life.”

On Wednesday, Kree sings “She Talks to Angels” remarkably well in round one. She comes back with “Have You Ever Been in

Love” in the diva round. It was a fine vocal, but the performance was pretty sleepy.

On Thursday, it’s Jimmy Iovine’s turn to talk. Normally, I welcome his frankness. But, on this night, he decided to toe the company line and spout total crap.

Amber was fabulous and incredibly brave to tackle songs by Mariah and Barbra in the same night, Jimmy says, ignoring the fact that she was completely incapable of pulling off the first.

Kree picked the wrong songs, he said, ignoring the fact that she selected two songs she was quite capable of singing.

And ignoring the fact that every single time she steps on stage, she delivers a vocal that would match the best Amber has done this season.

Watching the show through Amber-colored glasses, the judges apparently see the next Rihanna or the next Beyonce.

Because the save is still in play, I think voters are likely to have to eliminate contestants twice in order to narrow the field down to the most deserving final three –Angie Miller, Candice Glover and Kree.

I do agree the judges have too much power in their critique, jimmy iovine also…. the winner will be chosen primarily as a result of what they say, regardless what the contestant sings. they do pick favorites. we need simon, he is fair!!!!!

There no favoritism going on some of you veiwers are hating on amber. If they gave cree those comments you wouldn’t be saying that .I believe a lot of you know shes competition so you try to find flaws to down her..I see flaws in all four. I am a amber fan because she has great potiential to be a mega star .Ive seen heard a big voice like Candice before .Ive heard a voice like cree and angie. I have not seen or heard a voice like amber now meaning when she sings she sound revalant to now and future and she has the ability to be a singer that will last like whitney, micheal, celine, anita baker, mariahcarey, the beatles, and many more. She is a singer that will last and not fade away she has that type of voice. The reasons some you cant see that is because either you don’t listen to all types of music or you don’t know how to see a potiental great singer. Its like this some have that ability to see that shining light in a person. You have that ability to hear a great singer or that eye. Many of us who see that its a gift. You have be open minded with your ears and eyes.Meaning some of you only see pop or some just rb .I cant explain its hard .We just know when a person has it.

I think the judges are very influential in what they say. The audience listens and apparently are influenced one way or the otber. It is apparent to me that the judges are becoming too involved in choosing favorites. There needs to be an honest simon critique!!

Amber is so exciting and commerical and fun! I really want her to win.
And to the comments above, Nicki is more blunt than Simon ever was
