You might say Angie Keilhauer has had a unforgettable week.

Early Tuesday morning, she was among the Nashville residents affected by the string of tornadoes that ripped through the area.

Then Friday, she released a new country song — complete with a touch of Latin flavor — that sounds like it belongs on country radio.

The song is called “Real Talk.” Angie released it Angie K. And it’s as catchy as could be.

And talk about a song with a pedigree. It was written by the all-star quartet of Thomas Rhett,
Jesse Frasure, Nicolle Galyon and Hillary Lindsey.

Angie has no doubt why she got to record the song. She might be from Georgia. She might be Nashville-based.

But she was born in El Salvador, lived there until age 11 and speaks Spanish fluently.

“A song like that (“Real Talk”), for an unsigned artist like me, can be untouchable,” she told SiriusXM The Highway, which premiered the song Friday.

“I’m very honored to have gotten to record it. This song feels like me.”

Angie appeared on Season 10 of The Voice. Since, she released an EP called “Wild,” recorded three of those songs in Spanish for a mini-EP and returned to El Salvador to record the music video for a song called “Made to Live By the Water.”

She’s now prepping for a Tin Roof tour that kicks off next month. You can check out show dates on her website.

As for the aforementioned tornado, Angie says she and her roommate were among the lucky ones.

But they were chased from their apartment by a gas leak into streets littered with broken gas and downed power lines. She writes about it here, and posted a video of the damage, saying she’s eager “to get back and rebuild our sweet neighborhood.”

Here’s the lyric video for “Real Talk.”
