The Voice posted the second Comeback Stage battle round match following Tuesday’s blind audition show.

And, folks, Bebe Rexha blundered big time, advancing Kanard Thomas over J.T. Rodriguez.

We met both singers this week. Kanard, 28, of Jacksonville, Fla., was featured on Monday’s show. J.T., 23, of Chattanooga, Tenn., had his audition air Tuesday.

Both failed to turn a chair of course, which is why they landed on the Comeback Stage. Well, sort of. To my ears, Kanard was the least impressive of three singers who failed to turn a chair Monday night, but he got the Comeback Stage spot anyway.

Bebe said she pair J.T. and Kanard because they’re both soulful singers.

Kanard responded with a cover of “Let’s Get It On” that was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary.

J.T. covered “Stormy Monday” with the same unique vocals he showed off on The Voice stage, but none of the nerves that plagued that performance.

Bebe proclaimed that J.T. has “an amazing recording voice” and added “voices like yours never come along.”

Then she advanced Kanard. Oh, well. You can check out the performances yourself in the video below. They start at the 7 minutes, 45 second mark.

Do you think anyone involved behind the scenes cares about the contestants in the “Comeback Stage”?

It’s a gimmick and exposure for Ms. Ballerini and Ms. Rexha.
