After an abbreviated Tuesday night episode featuring just three battles, the stage is set for the knockout round on The Voice.
Austin Allsup, Brendan Fletcher and the sister duo of Whitney and Shannon won Tuesday’s battles while Bindi Liebowitz received the round’s last steal, courtesy of Blake Shelton.
For those who have lost track, here’s where that has left the teams.

Team Miley: Aaron Gibson, Ali Caldwell, Darby Walker, Josette Diaz; Maye Thomas, Sophia Urista; stolen artists — Josh Halverson, Lauren Diaz.
And now, the recap of Tuesday’s show. Remember, following the link attached to a singer’s name will take you to a profile of that artist. The number in parenthesis is the number of chairs he or she turned in the blind auditions.
WELL-DESERVED STEAL
Team Adam
The match: Brendan Fletcher (3) vs. Bindi Liebowitz (2)
The song: “Home” by Marc Broussard
The verdict: Adam complimented Brendan on his “other worldly,” “thunderous” voice and said he could have a bright future on the show. He awarded the win to him. Bindi was stolen by Blake Shelton. My take: Glad to see Bindi get stolen, since I might have awarded the win to her. I thought she showed plenty of fire in her performance. And while Brendan has a unique voice, I was having trouble understanding some of what he was singing.
THE COACHES GOT IT RIGHT
Team Blake
The match: Austin Allsup (1) vs. Preston James (1)
The song: “Bad Moon Rising” by Creedence Clearwater
The verdict: Alicia thought Preston won the battle. Adam and Miley were both impressed by how well young Preston did and how much at east the more experienced Austin seemed on stage. Blake named Austin the winner. My take: Kudos for Preston for making the battle relatively close, but Austin deserved the win. He’s a veteran performer ready for The Voice right now.
Team Alicia
The match: Whitney & Shannon (4) vs. Gabriel Violett (2)
The song: “More Than Words” by Extreme
The verdict: Miley and Adam wanted the sister duo in the blind auditions and said they would award the win to them. Blake said he didn’t think Gabriel was getting enough credit for his vocal. Alicia awarded the win to Whitney and Shannon. My take: Folks, this wasn’t even close. Their harmonies were perfect and they masterfully handled a round that has given duos fits in the past.
