Blake Shelton won Single of the Year honors at the CMA Awards Wednesday night.

The award came for “God’s Country,” a song written by Devin Dawson, Jordan Schmidt, and Hardy.

“God’s Country” hit number one on both the Billboard country airplay chart and the Billboard hot country singles chart and climbed as high as number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Wednesday’s biggest honor went to Garth Brooks as Entertainer of the Year. Luke Combs was named male vocalist of the year; Kacey Musgraves was named female vocalist of the year.

Carrie Underwood co-hosted the show with Reba McIntire and Dolly Parton, but failed to take home a trophy in spite of being nominated in a number of categories.

Most notably, she was among the Entertainer of the Year nominees. She’s never won that award. In fact, the last female to take the honor was Taylor Swift in 2011.

Former Voice contestant Morgan Wallen was nominated as best new artist, but that honor went to Ashley McBryde.
