Braiden Sunshine got lots of praise after his knockout round performance on The Voice.

After all, the 15-year-old turned in his best vocal yet when he performed “Looking Good” during his knockout round victory over Ellie Lawrence.

And he also showed up on stage with a new look — dressed in a suit with his hair slicked back rather than in all those curls.

Blake Shelton joked that Harry Potter auditioned for The Voice and Michael Buble showed up for the knockout round.

And Braiden’s makeover was a topic of discussion during a Tuesday conference call with the media.

Both Gwen Stefani and Rihanna were pushing for Braiden to change his look. He admits he was hesitant, for fear friends would tease him if he went along.

“She (Rihanna) said a funny thing,” Braiden recalled. “She said they won’t mess with you if you’re making money.

“The hair … I can tell you it took a long time,” he added at another point in the call. “Whatever Gwen wants to do with it, because she’s very good at that.”

You’ll recall that it was Gwen who gave Craig Wayne Boyd a makeover after stealing him from Team Blake back in Season 7. Craig, new look still intact, wound up back on Team Blake. He also wound up winning Season 7.

As for the music, Braiden credited Rihanna with giving him a great piece of advice — not letting it show when you mess up, even if your voice cracks during a performance.

And he suggested we might hear more classic music from him in future rounds.

“It’s something that I really like to do, but haven’t done as much,” said Braiden, who has already performed in three bands at age 15. “I want to show that I do enjoy that kind of stuff.”
