In one of her final battle round matches, Gwen Stefani squares off two young pop singers, Bryana Salaz and Gianna Salvato.

Bryana, 16, of San Antonio, Texas, auditioned with Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” showing off tons of potential and charisma. She turned three chairs.

Gianna, 18, of Freehold, N.J., auditioned with Pink’s “Glitter in the Air.” We didn’t get to see the audition, but Gwen turned very early and wound up being the only coach to do so.

They performed “Boom Clap” by Charli XCX. In a sneak peek video, Bryana admitted she wasn’t very familiar with it and suggests Gianna wasn’t either. But Gianna says “it’s a really fun song. It’s really anthem-y. It’s really easy for people to get into.”

Unfortunately, the battle didn’t air. Gwen advanced Bryana; Gianna was eliminated from the competition.

In a conference call with the media Wednesday, Bryana said “when we first go our song, ‘Boom Clap’ — we didn’t even know what the song was, so we were thrown off guard a little bit. And we were thrown off guard that we were even going against each other because we’re so completely different.

“We learned it together. We went into the rehearsal with Gavin (Rossdale) and Gwen, and they really helped us connect with the song. Gwen stressed so much that this performance was more about having fun and looking natural on stage and not so much about vocal ability.”

Bryana said Pharrell called their battle an even match, but told Gwen “if you want someone who’s ready, go with Bryana; if you want someone you can mold and grow with, go with Gianna. It’s right down the middle.

“I didn’t know who’d she go with,” Bryana admitted. “I just feel very excited and blessed to move on.”
