Sam Woolf leads Idol on iTunes charts

It took most of the day, but an American Idol has cracked the Top 200 on the iTunes chart.

As of 2:45 p.m., Sam Woolf had climbed to the number 194 spot.

Meanwhile, Caleb Johnson’s cover of “Sting Me” remains the highest-ranking Idol song on an iTunes genre chart.

Still, those results amount to a gigantic yawn from the music-buying public, in spite of the fact that four of the Idols — Caleb, Jena Irene, Jess Meuse and Alex Preston — did very well Wednesday night.

Each Idol sang twice Wednesday, but only one of the songs is available on iTunes, which is a bit baffling.

But to put this in perspective, check out that other singing show on TV.

Twelve finalists from The Voice performed Monday night. On Tuesday, 10 songs from the show hit the Top 200. Four are still in the Top 100 today.

On Wednesday, the Top 6 Idols performs. Only one cracks the same chart, and just barely. Wow.

Over on the genre charts, the only Idol not to crack the Top 200 is C.J. Harris, which could be an omen that a farewell song is in his future tonight.

Here’s how the others ranked. And I’ve gotta add: Sam Woolf is doing much, much better than he should. His version of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” ranked as one of the absolute worst performances Wednesday night.

Caleb Johnson — “Sting Me” — 25 on rock chart

Jena Irene — “Barracuda” — 32 on rock chart

Sam Woolf — “You’re Still the One” — 49 on pop chart

Jess Meuse — “Jolene” — 129 on country chart

Alex Preston — “Animal” — 172 on pop chart

Why is everything so much easier to find and to order on iTunes for The Voice. Your voting the last night was a disaster. Finding live performances. Purchasing iTunes. You name it on idol everthing is difficult on The Voice everything was a breeze and you’re my go to show. After 13 season this should be as smooth as silk. Couldn’t vote for Caleb the last night, watch him or others in action or buy any of his iTunes. I’m am mom and young grandmother with superb organizational skills. You need my help desperately.

I’ve done this 3x’s and you still can’t get it right. Thank god Caleb won since your voting system was a disaster once again.
