Former American Idol champ Caleb Johnson will be embarking on a new gig this fall.

He’ll be singing the songs of Meat Loaf at a series of concerts that will also feature the legendary rocker.

It will work like this: Since Meat Loaf is in declining health, he’ll tell stories about his songs and his career.

The performing will be left to Caleb, American Idol’s Season 13 champ.

Caleb has posted five tour dates on his Facebook page, beginning with a show in Colony, Texas, on Sept. 27. There are also dates in Vegas, Pennsylvania (Jim Thorpe), Illinois and New York so far.

Writes Caleb: “This has been in the works for nine months and I am thrilled and honored to now officially announce that I’ll be joining Meat Loaf ‘s magnificent band The Neverland Express on select shows and performing his and Jim Steinman’s legendary rock opera masterpiece ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ in its entirety!!!!

“Anyone who knows me personally knows that this is one of my all time favorite records and that Meat Loaf is one of my rock n roll heroes !!! What a voice and what an album! Hope to see you at a show!”

You can head here to hear Caleb’s version of “Bat Out of Hell.”

We haven’t heard much from Caleb recently. He dropped two singles in 2016 and launched a Pledge campaign for an EP that has yet to land.

But on Twitter, he promises that will change, saying he’ll announce information about a new single, video and album soon.
