Can Idol start another Grammy win streak in 2013?

American Idol’s Grammy winning streak ended at six years in February.

But the show might have a chance to start a new winning streak this year.

When Grammy nominations were announced a couple of days ago, American Idol graduates wound up with four nominations.

And they all belong to the two most renowned alumni of the show, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

Kelly has three nominations, including Record of the Year and Solo Pop Performance, both for “Stronger” the single, and Pop Vocal Album, for “Stronger” the CD.

Carrie is nominated for Country Solo performance for her hit single, “Blown Away.”

In addition, the writers of “Stronger” — Jörgen Elofsson, David Gamson, Greg Kurstin and Ali Tamposi — are nominated for Song of the Year; and the writers of “Blown Away” — Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins — are nominated for Country Song of the Year.

Pop Vocal Album: The other nominees are Florence and The Machine with “Deremonials,” fun. with “Some Nights,” Maroon 5 with “Overexposed,” and Pink with “The Truth About Love.”

Solo Pop Performance: The other nominees are Adele for “Set Fire to the Rain,” Carly Rae Jepsen for “Call Me Maybe,” Katy Perry for “Wide Awake ” and Rihanna for “Where Have You Been.”

Record of the Year: The other nominees are “Lonely Boy” by The Black Keys, “Think About You” by Frank Ocean, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” by Taylor Swift, and “We Are Young” by fun.

Solo Country Performance: Carrie’s the only feature nominee up against Dierks Bently for “Home,” Eric Church for “Springsteen,” Ronnie Dunn for “Cost of Living” and Hunter Hayes for “Wanted.”
