Originally, Candice’s “Music Speaks” album was supposed to come out in July, just two months after the Idol season ended.

Then that date was pushed back to Oct. 8. Now it’s been delayed again.

“I know it’s taking a bit longer than expected to get my album out, but I have been working hard in the studio with some amazing people and I want to get it just right for you guys,” Candice said in a press release announcing the new release date.

This means Candice will be the first Idol winner since Kelly Clarkson not to release an album the same year she captured the show’s top prize.

Typically, the album from the Idol winner is released in time for the holiday shopping season.

But Season 12 wasn’t a typical year for Idol. The show’s ratings plummeted, the summer tour was scaled back and that tour failed to generate much of a buzz for Candice or the other contestants.

Candice and her team might be hoping the release of a new single will generate that missing buzz.

Shortly after the Interscope album release announcement, Candice tweeted that she’ll answer questions via ustream later this week and premiere a new single.
