It’s been two years since Carly Smithson was eliminated from American Idol back in that memorable season seven — a season I appreciate more and more with each passing week of season nine.

Tomorrow, the day finally comes. Carly Smithson will have an album out.

Except instead of following the solo route taken by all of her season seven colleagues — OK, admittedly, I’ve lost track of what Ramiele Malubay
is up to musically — Carly, of course, is part of the rock band We Are the Fallen.

“It’s almost time for ‘Tear the World Down,’ ” Carly tweeted Saturday, referring to the album by name. “On Tuesday, our loved creation will be
released.”

And here’s the best news for fans who like what they hear on the album.

On Sunday, Carly and the fellow members of We Are the Fallen will be performing in Lancaster.

If you have other plans Sunday night, you can also catch the band Monday at Bourbon Street in Baltimore. Tickets are $4.98 for an 8 p.m. Noise in the Basement show sponsored by 98 Rock.

Carly might be best known to Idol fans, but this is a band with a background.

Ben Moody, John LeCompt and Rocky Gray were members of Evanescence back in its heyday. Marty O’Brien rounds out the quintet.

If you haven’t been keeping up, the band has released a single called “Bury Me Alive” as well as video for that song.

You can hear the single and another album track, “Without You,” by heading to the band’s MySpace page.
