Another week, another week of advances for two of the most successful American Idol contestants ever.

Carrie Underwood nudges up ever so slightly on Billboard’s country singles chart as “Mama’s Song” moves from number 18 to number 17. If the song reaches number one, it will mark Carrie’s fourth straight number one single from her “Play On” album.

Speaking of number one, Daughtry’s “September” is just shy of the top spot on Billboard’s adult pop song chart after moving from number three to number two this week. The song also continued its advance on the Hot 100, jumping from 40 to 37.

Among the highlights to look forward next week — news on where season seven runner-up David Archuleta will debut on the Billboard 200 with his new album, “The Other Side of Down.”

And, don’t forget, Katharine McPhee’s Christmas album comes out Tuesday.

Meanwhile, here’s a look at how all the Idols fared on the Billboard charts this week.
