Well, news on that front came to us Monday night, straight from the fingers of the original Idol via the wonder that is Twitter.

The biggest news: Kelly intends to release a single before the end of the year. But while the album is “coming along great,” it probably won’t be released until 2011.

“We’ve almost completed the album,” Kelly said in a tweet to her fans. “We’re gonna have way too many songs to pick from … and that part sucks.”

Kelly said she just finished recording “one of my favorites,” a song called “You still Won’t Know What It’s Like,” on Monday with Jason Halbert. He co-wrote two songs — “Cry” and “Ready” — on Kelly’s last album.

“Definitely, my favorite song off the new album is ‘You Love Me,'” Kelly said in another tweet.

She also indicated that she’s recorded two duets for the album, though she won’t say with whom.

Kelly, of course, is coming off a highly successful fourth album, “All I Ever Wanted.” It yielded three top 20 singles on the Billboard 100 and “Already Gone” is still in the top 10 on the adult contemporary singles chart a full year after its release.
