Carrie, Lauren, Casey nominated for ACA honors

Casey James and Lauren Alaina will be vying for their first American Country Awards when the show airs Monday, Dec. 10, on FOX.

Then there’s Carrie Underwood, who has won nine such awards in the show’s first two years and is nominated for four more this year.

The American Country Awards announced its nominees last week. Now the selection process is up to the fans, who will vote on the winners.

Carrie won artist of the year at the first American Country Awards in 2010 and was named female artist of the year in 2011.

She’s up for that honor again this year, along with Sara Evans, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and Taylor Swift.

The other categories in which former Idol contestants are nominated and their competition are as follows:

* New Artist of the Year: Lauren Alaina, Hunter Hayes, Jana Kramer, Kip Moore, Pistol Annies

* Single of the Year (Female): “Good Girl” by Carrie Underwood, “My Heart Can’t Tell You No” by Sara Evans, “Over You” by Miranda Lambert, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” by Martina McBride, “Ours” by Taylor Swift

* Single of the Year (Vocal Collaboration): “Remind Me” by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, “New To This Town” by Kix Books and Joe Walsh; “Feel Like a Rock Star” from Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, “Easy” by Rascal Flatts and Natasha Bedingfield; “Knee Deep” by Jimmy Buffett and the Zac Brown Band.

* Video of the Year (Female): “Good Girl” by Carrie Underwood, “Ours” by Taylor Swift, “My Heart Can’t Tell You No” by Sara Evans, “Over You” by Miranda Lambert, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” by Martina McBride.

* Video of the Year (New Artist): “Let’s Don’t Call It a Night” by Casey James, “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes, “Why You Wanna” by Jana Kramer, “Cowboys and Angels” by Dustin Lynch, “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” by Kip Moore.

Nominees for the night’s big award, artist of the year, include Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum and the Zac Brown Band. Jason Alden won last year.

And new Idol judge Keith Urban is up for two ACAs: music video of the year and male music video of the year, both for “God Gave Me You.”
