Carrie Underwood won her third ACM Enterrtainr of the Year Award Wednesday night.

Carrie Underwood and Thomas Rhett were both named Entertainers of the Year at the 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards Wednesday night.

It marked the first time since the show began handing out Entertainer of the Year honors in 1971 that two artists shared the award.

ACM CEO Damon Whiteside told Billboard the academy has nearly 5,000 voting members and that Rhett and Underwood received exactly the same number of votes.

It marked the third Entertainer of the Year award for Carrie, who took that honor in 2009 and 2010. It marked Rhett’s first win in the category.

Ironically, neither Carrie or Rhett took the respective honors for female or male vocalist of the year. Those awards went to Maren Morris and Luke Combs.

This year’s show was originally scheduled for April in Vegas until the pandemic forced a change in those plans. Instead, Wednesday’s show was held at a trio of Nashville venues.

Carrie and former American Idol standout Gabby Barrett were among those who performed. The show also featured a duet by Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.

Blake was the night’s other winner with a singing show connection. His hit song “God’s Country” took single of the year honors.

Other nominees included Gabby, Idol judge Luke Bryan, former Voice contestant Morgan Wallen and show host Keith Urban.

Underwood and Rhett beat out Bryan, Combs and Eric Church in the Entertainer of the Year category.
