Carrie Underwood performs at the ACM Awards (video)

Underwood played her newest single, “Church Bells,” on TV for the first time Sunday night at the ACM awards.

The “doing a little something different” Carrie talks about in the video at left? That would be banging on a couple of drums at one point during the performance.

“Church Bells” hasn’t hit country radio yet, but it had already shot up to number 35 on the iTunes’ country singles chart Sunday night.

Carrie was also up for Female Vocalist of the Year honors during Sunday night’s ceremony in Las Vegas.

That award went to Miranda Lambert, who won it for the seventh straight year. Before that, Carrie won in 2008 and 2009.

The Season 4 winner of American Idol is also the only female to be named the ACM Entertainer of the Year twice.

On Sunday, that honor went to Jason Aldean, who just happens to be married to former Idol contestant Brittany Kerr.
