The big singing show news on the Billboard charts this week will be the debut of Cassadee Pope, country version.
Contestants from The Voice haven’t exactly set the charts on fire to date.
Cassadee just might change that.
She released her first post-Voice single, “Wasting All These Tears,” last Tuesday, then performed the song on The Voice.
It immediately zipped to number one on the iTunes country singles chart.
Billboard’s weekly charts were released today.
“Wasting All These Tears” landed at number two on the country digital download chart, trailing only “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line.
Without the benefit of any radio airplay, the song landed at number seven on the hot country singles chart.
The song was number 10 on Billboard’s hot digital download chart, with reported sales in the 125,000 range.
And it landed at number 37 on the Hot 100.
Not a bad start for the former lead singer for the pop-rock band Hey Monday, who decided to go country after winning Season 3 on The Voice.
With a debut album due in October, Cassadee is on tour with The Band Perry and Rascal Flatts.
The tour lands in Pittsburgh on Sept. 6. You can check out all the dates on Cassadee’s website.
