After The Voice

Cassadee Pope sounds invincible in her latest music video

of my all-time favorite singers from The Voice just dropped a new video.

And Cassadee Pope sounds better than ever on “I am Invincible.” I especially love that opening and the bridge near the end of the song.

If you can’t tell from the song title, “I am Invincible” is about female empowerment and overcoming bullying.

In an interesting interview with seventeen.com, Cassadee says she never endured physical bullying as a child, but certainly “felt belittled by my peers because of how focused I was on music.”

“The girls who felt threatened by my drive said my voice sounded like a chipmunk. They’d prank call me and leave voicemails where they’d make chipmunk voices,” she recalls.

“Now every once in a while I’ll see a comment from them on an Instagram pic or a Facebook post congratulating me. It does feel somewhat vindicating. In the moment, the criticism bothered me. But it never slowed me down. I had my eye on a dream and the rest felt petty to me.”

She says helping empower young girls is important to her because of the example her mother set after her parents divorced when she was young.

“My mom was a force to be reckoned with,” Cassadee says. “She showed me how to be self-sufficient and independent.”

Cassadee, former front woman for the pop-rock band Hey Monday, won Season 3 of The Voice, of course, then embarked on a solo career as a country singer.

Her debut album, “Frame by Frame,” has been one of the most successful to date from an artist featured on The Voice, debuting at number one on Billboard’s country chart and number nine on the Billboard 200.

“I Am Invincible” hit iTunes in July as the lead single from an upcoming second album.
