Catie Turner says that had she advanced on American Idol Sunday night, she would have given her spot in the Top 5 to Jurnee.

The reason: The teen from Langhorne, Pa., says she didn’t feel deserving of a spot in the Top 5 after flubbing the lyrics to “Manic Monday” on Prince Night.

“I told producers, whatever happens, if I go through, Jurnee’s getting my spot,” Catie said in an interview with ABC7 in New York.

“Because I don’t deserve — as someone who forget her lyrics, and this is a competition — I wouldn’t feel right taking that spot from two people who remembered their words and delivered great performances.”

Of course, that moment never came to see how producers would have reacted if Catie carried through.

She and Jurnee were eliminated during a Sunday night show in which Gabby Barrett, Cade Foehner, Maddie Poppe, Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Michael J. Woodard became the American Idol Season 16 Top 5.

Asked about her Prince performance, Catie labeled it “a mess.”

“I take full responsibility for it being a mess,” she added. “It’s just one of those things where my heart and my head were disconnected and i was living too much in my head rather than in my heart. And while overthinking. it sabotaged me and sent me home.

“It’s whatever,” Catie adding, smiling. “Now I’m having a real Manic Monday doing this (a series of media interviews).”
