New post-Voice releases include singles from Kylie Rothfield and Mark Isaiah and a fiery cover from Lisa Ramey.
In addition, Tim Atlas and Meg & Dia has released remix collections from their most recent projects.
Here’s a bit about each release. The links take you to the songs on Apple Music. Or you can check out the Spotify snippets below.
* Kylie Rothfield from Season 11 has released a new single called “Too Late,” following up with an accompanying music video last week. “It’s about the feeling of growing up and realizing you may have not made the impact you dreamed you would make,” she writes on social media, adding that it’s “probably the most personal and honest song I’ve ever written.” Kylie has vowed to donate all streaming revenue for the first month of the song’s release to Black Live Matter. Kylie also recently appeared on NBC’s “Songland,” pitching one of her excellent songs — it started out as “Lonely” and became “Ghosts” — to Ben Platt,
* Mark Isaiah from Season 12 has released a new pop bop called “Healing.” Actually, he’d planned to release a song called “Feeling Good.” Then life intervened. “We gotta be honest,” Mark says in an Instagram message to fans. “This is not really a time that we’re all feeling good. Hopefully next month, we’ll all be feeling good.” In the meantime, his advice: “Look at everything in a positive light because at the end of the day, we should all stay together, we should all stick together and see the positive, see the good.” “Healing” marks Mark’s third single of 2020.
* Lisa Ramey from Season 16 has released a raucous cover of The Beatles “Come Together” and an accompanying music video that’s pure fire. The song can have a new meaning in relation to the Black Lives Matter movement, she notes in an interview with AudioFemme.com. “I believe things can be different, but it can’t happen unless we all come together and stop making excuses of BS,” she says. “And so I’m screaming at everybody out of frustration, and to see everybody rising up and marching against it is amazing.” Lisa also released her debut album, “Surrender,” earlier this year.
In addition:
* Tim Atlas from Season 9 has released a set of remixes from his November 2019 “Together Lonely” album. He offers up remixes of the title track, “Tangerine” and “Crimes of Passion.” Tim pledges to make a monthly donation to Black Lives Matter with royalties from the latter remix.
* Meg and Dia has released a “Happysad” remixes EP, featuring new versions of “Dear Heart,” “American Spirit,” “Teenagers” and “Better at Being Young” from their January reunion album. The sisters performed as Meg and Dia before Dia Frampton auditioned for Season 1 of The Voice and wound up finishing second.
