After being eliminated from Season 15 of American Idol, Sonika Vaid said she’d like to work with Disney one day.
Well, she’s not quite there yet, but her first music video debuted Friday on the Radio Disney website.
It’s also the first single from the dark-haired beauty who had barely performed prior to Idol but wound up finishing fifth.
Along the way, she served up a memorable performance of “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence that ranked as one of the Season 15 highlights.
Ah, but back to the single. It’s an original called “Smoke from Distant Fires,” and it’s actually a duet with Will Jay.
Turns out Will is a buddy of Sonika’s Season 15 colleague Dalton Rapatoni. At one point, they were both members of the boy group IM5.
Will released a self-titled EP earlier this year.
As for more new music from Sonika?
In a recent chat with fans on Facebook, she said something might be coming soon, that’s she’s acting as sort of “a lone ranger” musically but that she’s been writing lots of songs since Idol.
In the meantime, she’s encouraging everyone to “pick it” — meaning her new song — on the Radio Disney site. The song is also available on iTunes.
Now, here’s that new song.
