Audra McLaughlin from Season 6 of The Voice released her debut single on Friday.A county singer from the Philly area has released her first post-Voice single.

Audra McLaughlin made a name for herself when she advanced all the way to the Top 8 on Season 6 of The Voice.

A year and a half later, she’s celebrating the release of a song called “Tennessee Cowboy.”

In a recent interview with 94.7 WDSD in Delaware, Audra says the inspiration for the song came two years ago, when she made her very first visit to Nashville.

“I saw all these cute cowboys in Nashville, and I was like, ‘Ooh, I want to write a song about that,'” she recalled. “I came home and started writing this melody on my guitar and thought, ‘I really like this.'”

She placed it aside, but eventually finished the song with the help of a couple songwriting friends.

“It’s definitely one of my favorite songs,” Audra said, referring to the tunes she’s written. “It reminds me of my very first time going to Nashville with my parents.”

Audra was 21 when she auditioned for The Voice and turned all four coaches’ chairs. Of course, being a country singer she decided to join Blake Shelton’s team.

In her pre-Voice interview, she talked about how she was bullied growing up because of learning disability. Since the shows, she’s gotten involved in anti-bullying campaigns.

Musically, this isn’t the last we’ll hear from Audra. Melissa Daley, her manager, said on Friday that there are plans to release another single sometime this winter.

In the meantime, you can listen to “Tennessee Cowboy” below. The song, featuring great vocals from Audra, starts at the 5-minute mark. And you can follow Audra on Twitter at @AudraLynn21 and through her website.
