Chris Tungeth was the last singer American Idol fans met during the Season 24 auditions.
Way back then, Luke Bryan predicted he’d do well on the show.
Turns out the 27-year-old from Fergus Falls, Minn., nearly made it all the way to the Season 24 finals.
Chris was eliminated Monday night, along with Braden Rumfelt. Hannah Harper, Jordan McCullough and Keyla Richardson advanced to vie to vie for Idol’s Season 24 crown.
Meanwhile, Chris took to social media telling fans — and he has many, many new ones — that he’ll have “big news coming your way soon.”
During his Idol audition, Chris told he judges he’d been working as a roofer. But he was also playing gigs at Outstate Brewery in Fergus Falls.
In interviews, Chris said he turned to music to help him cope with the loss of his dad, who succumbd to leukemia in 2003 at age 65. His father, Mark, had been a worship leader and pastor.
Chris said he always wanted to audition for Idol, but never thought he would. A friend took care of that, submitting an audiiton for him.
He performed an original called “Lonely Road” at his audition, dedicating it to his dad. The judges loved the performance.
And Chris was peaking on the show, turning in his best string of performances over the past two weeks.
“THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart. @americanidol has been the craziest rollercoaster ride and I’m so incredible grateful for every second,” Chris wrote on social media.
“YOU GUYS HAVE HAD MY BACK SINCE THE START. Your prayers have been felt, your support has been heard. I feel every bit of it.
“It’s hard for my little brain to comprehend how unbelievable this experience has been … I’ll never forget the work God’s done. … This has His hand written all over it.
“The hard works starts now. I’m just getting started.”
