Colton Dixon announces album name, release date

0

Colton Dixon never wavered in his long-term goal after American Idol.

Regardless of how well he did on the show, he intended to follow up with a contemporary Christian album.

The album now has a name: Colton Dixon — A Messenger.

And it has an estimated release date: Late January.

“Recording background vocals today,” Colton wrote via Twitter. “We are at the final stretch of this record:-). So stinkin excited for you all to listen:-)”

Colton finished seventh on Idol Season 11, but was the only contestant to sing an original song during the summer tour (“Never Gone”).

He’s since released it and “You Are” as singles, giving listeners a sense of what they’ll get when that debut album comes out.

As for the title, remember, Colton was a member of a Christian band called Messenger pre-Idol.

Given that and his faith, it’s perfectly fitting.
