Lauren Alaina EPFans apparently haven’t forgotten Lauren Alaina.

The Season 10 runner-up on American Idol released a self-titled five-track EP on Friday.

It’s her first release of anything more than a single in nearly four years.

Yet it zipped into the Top 10 on the iTunes’ country albums chart, sitting at number seven 24 hours after its release.

And it was still there Saturday evening, 24 hours later.

The EP is definitely more pop-country leaning than Lauren’s debut album.

And on that full-length album, Lauren had just one co-writing credit. This time around, she helped write all five tunes.

Fans were already familiar with two of the songs. “History” is being featured in ESPN’s college football promo ads. “My Next Boyfriend” was released as a single last month.

But perhaps the best track on the new EP is the opening tune, “Road Less Traveled,” which got a writing assist from Meghan Trainor of “All About that Bass” fame.

“It’s not really like my first record at all. Everything’s different,” Lauren told Taste of Country.

And this is apparently just a sampling of what’s to come. Taste of Country reports Lauren is planning to release a sophomore album next year.

The 20-year-old had another reason to celebrate last week. She was just named Country’s Hottest Bachelorette in a fan-voted competition hosted by Nash Country Weekly.

You can read more about that here.
