Perhaps most intriguing of all is the fact that no one entered the show with such a huge pre-Voice following that they’d be considered favorites based on that fact alone.
That hasn’t always been the case.
Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope, Season 5 winner Tessanne Chin and Season 6 finalist Christina Grimmie all showed up on The Voice stage with large pre-show fan bases.
Christina’s social media fan base before The Voice included 394,000 followers on Twitter and 2.1 million fans on Facebook.
Compare those to the numbers below, and you’ll see why Season 7 is a much more evenly matched affair.
That said, Craig Wayne Boyd is winning the social media battle, with both the most followers on Twitter and the most fans on Facebook.
But take a look at how many Twitter followers some of the contestants have gained in just one week (the number in parenthesis are from the stats from 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.)
Hmm, perhaps Adam knew what he was talking about when he referred to Chris Jamison’s “intangibles.”
The numbers below are from 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15. But they’re changing quickly, so I’ve also included links to everyone’s Twitter account and Facebook page. That also makes it easy to follow your favorites.
Speaking of which, I’ve just launched a new Facebook page for this blog, if you’d like to check it out.
To see where I’ve ranked the Top 12, head here. And check back for live blogs Monday and Tuesday night. On Monday, I’ll be grading each performance as it happens.
