When you think of former American Idol contestants whose music would be suitable for dance remixes, Kris Allen doesn’t pop instantly to mind.

But the Season 8 winner just released an EP of six remixes of his uplifting “The Vision of Love” single.

What makes this remix EP different is that two of the tracks stem from an online contest Kris hosted, inviting fans to submit versions of his song.

The winning entry came from DJ Reidiculous — real name, Reid Stafanick, a 22-year-old from New Jersey, who says he began making his own music about four years ago and began specializing in house music at age 20.

He said he was sitting in a college class one day when a follower tweeted about Kris’ remix contest. He entered, and now his version of “The Vision of Love” is on the EP.

Also included on the EP is the contest runner-up — that would be the Dirty Panda version of the song. Fan voting helped select the winners.
