Before the live playoffs began, DaNica Shirey said she’d “definitely come home with a smile on my face” even if she didn’t advance on The Voice.

The 25-year-old from York isn’t coming home yet.

DaNica was one of three members of Team Pharrell Williams named to the Season 7 finals during Wednesday night’s results show.

And that means she’ll be competing alongside teammates Luke Wade and Sugar Joans when the Top 12 perform live Monday night.

DaNica and Luke were voted into the finals by fans. Then Pharrell chose to save Sugar from among his three remaining artists, eliminating Elyjuh Rene and Jean Kelley in the process.

DaNica performed “Help Me” on the show Tuesday, a song selected by Pharrell and described by him as a 10 on a scale of 10 in terms of difficulty.

But her cover of the Joni Mitchell tune was praised by all four coaches on The Voice. Blake Shelton was so impressed, he called it “a clinic for singers.” Gwen Stefani said DaNica sounded “gorgeous.”

DaNica’s version of “Help Me” wound up at number 120 on the iTunes singles chart when voting ended at noon today; it was number 52 on the iTunes pop chart.

That was the fifth best performance among the 10 songs from Tuesday’s show. But three of the songs that did better were by Team Pharrell teammates.

Before the live playoffs, DaNica described her experience on The Voice as “awesome” and said it still seemed surreal that she was getting the chance to perform on TV, for a national audience.

She had already advanced through three rounds of the show, prompting three of the four coaches to turn their chairs for her blind audition performance of “Big White Room,” then winning her battle and knockout round matches by singing Beyonce’s “Halo” and Whitney Houston’s “Saving All My Love for You.”

After Wednesday’s show aired, DaNica took to Twitter to express her feelings about the outcome.

“Omg guys! I am at a loss for words and I haven’t cried this hard in a while. Thank you so much for voting me into #Top12 #TheVoice xoxoxo”

Check back Monday night at 8 p.m. for the Top 12 show. I’ll be live blogging and grading each performance.
