Tuesday night’s The Voice Season 7 finale marked more than a chance to celebrate Craig Wayne Boyd’s victory.
It marked the return of York’s Nica Shirey to The Voice stage.
A stay-at-home mom just a few months ago, the 25-year-old is now nationally known as one of the best singers among the Season 7 cast.
Along the way, her vocals were praised by four superstar coaches.
She got to work with the likes of Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift and Diana Ross.
She got to close a pair of Voice episodes, attracting more than 1 million views for a battle round video of her performance of “Halo” with Toia Jones.
She saw her Twitter fan base grow from about 2,400 to more than 22,000.
And she was treated to a triumphant return home, where she performed to a packed house at the Pullo Center in York.
Tuesday’s Season 7 finale put an exclamation mark on her magical Voice ride. She took the stage no fewer than four times, twice being selected by finalists for their bring-back numbers.
Damien Lawson said he wanted her for his performance of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” because “she kills it every time she gets on stage.”
And Season 7 winner Craig Wayne selected her to participate in his fun rendition of “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” because DaNica provided a shoulder of support of him through the competition. Plus, he called her voice “perfection.”
A pretty great way to close out Season 7.
