Great news for Danny Gokey and his fans.

His debut album, “My Best Days,” debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 album chart when Billboard unveiled its new charts this morning.

Among the top season eight American Idols, only Adam Lambert debuted higher, at number three, albeit in the bit more competitive environment of the pre-holiday shopping season when lots of artists release new material.

Season eight American Idol Kris Allen debuted at number 11; fourth-place finisher Allison Iraheta’s “Just Like You” debuted at number 35.

Which puts Danny in pretty darn good standing. Not that the number four debut is all that surprising. He’s been sending out tweets all week about reports that his album is sold out at various stores.

Curiously, two of the three albums above Danny on the Billboard 200 are also country releases — Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” at number one and Blake Shelton’s “Hillbilly Bone” at number three. Sade’s “Soldier of Love” holds the number two spot.

That, of course, means Danny debuts at number three on the country album chart, helping bump Carrie Underwood’s “Play On” from number six to number nine.

Don’t fret for Carrie. Her “Temporary Home” single moved up two spots on the country singles chart to number five.

Danny’s first single, “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me,” cracks the top 30 on the country singles chart at number 29.

Check back later this week for a complete rundown of Idols on the music charts.
