David Cook, Season 10

David Cook to sing Idol’s Season 10 farewell song

The Season 10 farewell song heard on every Idol eliminate episode of American Idol will be performed by the last truly successful Idol winner, David Cook.

One had to suspect that would be the case last week.

David sent out a tweet saying he was working on something special in the studio, then later followed up with a tweet saying that “extra treat” would air Thursday night.

Which, of course, coincides with Idol’s first results show.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the exit song will be a David Cook cover of the Simple Minds’ song, “Don’t You Forget About Me.”

Other tweets indicate that pre-orders for David’s new album will also be taken starting today on David’s website.

I wonder if that also means we’ll be getting a release date for that highly anticipated second album.

Anyway, it’s a great match for David and Idol.

Idol gets to celebrate its recent past; David gets a reintroduction to any Idol fans who might have lost track of him and to any new Idol fans who have hopped aboard since he won Season 7.

Update: Pre-order album information just went up on David’s website. An Mp3 of the new album will cost you $9.99; the physical album, $11.99.

Most exciting of all for David fans, anyone who pre-orders the album gets a free download of David’s Idol exit song.

Sorry, no word on an album release date. Just that the album will be out later this year.

But David’s website is promising a revamped look soon. Here’s the link to pre-order the album.
