Elise Azkoul was eliminated from The Voice Season 17 following a battle round match that aired last week.
But have no fear, Elise fans. We’ll be hearing from the 28-year-old Atlanta, Ga., resident again very soon.
Even before appearing on The Voice, Elise was working on a debut album. One she plans to release very soon.
On The Voice, Elise performed Lady Gaga’s “Million Reasons” to land a spot on Team Gwen Stefani.
Gwen paired her with Myracle Holloway for the battle round and asked them to perform Arina Grande’s “Breathe.”
Myracle was declared the winner and advanced to the knockout round. But Elise received praise for her performance as well.
Here’s what she told Voice Views about her time on the show and the new music to come.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Elise: The Voice has been such an amazing experience. I not only made lifelong friendships with other contestants, but I had a blast working with Gwen, John, Kelly and Blake. I learned so much about myself as an artist, and got so much encouragement during this journey. This experience affirmed me as a singer, and I know I am doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing. I just can’t wait to see what’s next!
Voice Views: The battles were filmed over the summer. What have you been doing musically since then and where are you hoping The Voice experience leads?
Elise: I have been working really hard on my debut album, which is set to release next month! I am really excited about these songs, especially “Sweet Soul.” I can’t wait for you to hear it.
Voice Views: Do you plan to release new music anytime soon? If so, can you tell me about that — what you’re planning, what fans can expert in terms of sound and the timetable for doing?
Yes! My debut album is set to release in November of 2019. My style is soulful pop. I love pop, R&B, jazz, and soul, and I think you will be able to hear a cool blend of a lot of different sounds. You can really hear my heart in my music, and my hope is that people will relate to my songs on a deep level. In the meantime, check out my first single, “Coffee Baby” to get a taste of what’s to come.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Elise: Everyone has been so sweet and supportive about my battle performance. I was so honored to sing that song with my battle partner, Myracle, and I am really proud of the beautiful duet we created. I am so excited for all of the endeavors to come, and I can’t wait for you guys to check out more of my music!
