First Danielle Bradbery single set for July 16 release

The Big Machine Label Group certainly isn’t wasting time with Danielle Bradbery.

The 16-year-old Texan won Season 4 of The Voice on June 18.

Danielle Bradbery will release "Heart of Dixie" next week.

Danielle Bradbery will release “Heart of Dixie” next week.

On July 16 — less than a month later — her first single will be available for download.

The song is called “Heart of Dixie,” and it’s not about being from the South.

Dixie is the woman Danielle sings about, a woman who dumps her deadbeat drunk of a husband and discovers “she’s got the fire and fight of a gypsy / ain’t nothing stronger than the heart of Dixie.”

If the theme seems a bit mature for Danielle, at least she’s not singing another cliched tune about a first love, her hometown or leaving home for Nashville.

And Danielle sounds great on the song. No surprise there to anyone who watched her waltz to The Voice crown, leaving far more experienced singers in her wake.

TV station KPRC in Houston reports that Danielle recorded two singles in Nashville the week after winning The Voice. At that time of their broadcast, Danielle still wasn’t sure which would be released first.

“(They) definitely have that country twang to them,” Danielle told the station, “but you can hear the little cross-over. And I love them.”

The rapid release marks a departure for winners of The Voice.

For instance, Cassadee Pope, signed to the same label, didn’t release her first single until six months after winning Season 3.

Danielle is supposed to perform “Heart of Dixie” on Today the day after the song is released.

In the meantime, here’s a snippet.
