Alexis Grace is planning a debut EP for a January release.

Former American Idol finalist Alexis Grace plans to release an EP early next year.

And she’s looking for a little help from her fans.

Alexis, who finished 11th on Season 8 of Idol, has launched an indiegogo campaign in hopes of raising $6,000 toward the cost of a six-track EP and accompanying music video.

As of Saturday evening, with 28 days to go in the campaign, she’s well over halfway toward her goal.

And you know how these campaigns work; donors get goodies. In this case, a $5 donation gets you a digital download of the EP; a $10 donation gets you a physical copy of the EP and so on.

Since Idol, Alexis has released a quartet of singles. “James Dean,” “Rooftop” and “Someone Else” were released last winter. Last month, she released “I’m So Done.”

The first single from the EP, “I’m So Done” is easily the best yet, not to mention one of my favorite tracks this year from a former Idol finalist.

Alexis just finished shooting the music video for the song and plans to release the EP in January. It will be called “Kiddo,” a tribute of sorts to her father, who died this past summer.

“He was one of, if not the biggest musical influences of my life,” Alexis, now 27, says in her idiegogo introduction. “(Kiddo) was my nickname he gave me. He was a professional bass player on Beale street for almost 40 years, and didn’t stop until he literally couldn’t play, so neither will I.”

The EP, she adds, will feature six new songs she’s created with the help of husband Thomas Bergstig and producer/co-writer Niklas Karlsson.

Bergstig is working on an EP as well as Swedish Gun Factory and has already released a series of singles, several featuring vocals by Alexis. Make sure to check out “68 Talkback” and “Warrensburg, Mo.”

Alexis also works as a DJ at Q107.5 in Memphis, Tenn.

Now, some videos for your viewing pleasure — Alexis’ clever intro to her indiegogo campaign and that new single. Heck, I like “Warrensburg, Mo.” so much, I’ll even include it.
