Katelyn Read from The Voice Season 8Katelyn Read, a Season 8 contestant on The Voice, is entering the final days of a Kickstarter campaign to fund a new EP.

You might not remember Katelyn because her time on the show was brief and her blind audition was part of a montage package.

The folk-blues singer-songwriter was 25 when she earned a spot on Team Christina with her cover of Anna Nalick’s “Breathe.”

She wound up being eliminated in the battle round.

But she had already released a five-track EP pre-Voice; check out the impressive “My Beloved” below.

Now she’s attempting to raise $3,500 to help fund a new seven-track EP that will be called “We’ve Come This Far.”

“This album is the exhale of all the time, hard work, and creativity I’ve mustered the past year,” she says in her Kickstarter pitch.

“What I’ve built in these seven new songs is more intimate to my own soul, and more authentic to my sound as a musician.”

Kickstarter rewards? Of course there are rewards for donating. In this case they include a couple of unique ones — watercolor prints featuring some of Katelyn’s lyrics and homemade chocolate chip cookies. Head here to check out her Kickstarter page.

You can keep up with Katelyn through Facebook and her website, where she describes herself as “a mom and a wife doing everyday things, all while chasing my dreams. I never feel as alive as I do when I am singing.” On Twitter, she is @iamkatelynread.

Now, here are two of my favorite tracks from that 2014 EP.
