Four former Idol contestants coming to York

0

Four American Idols will perform in York next April.

The show is nearly a year away, but four former American Idol contestants are coming to York in April 2012 as part of the 2011-12 season announced today by the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center.

The show is a tribute to Motown, and it will feature Michael Sarver from season eight, David Hernandez from season seven, and LaKisha Jones and Gina Glocksen from season six.

Of the foursome, LaKisha enjoyed the most success on Idol, finishing fourth. Sarver released the most recent CD, a self-titled country effort last July.

Their show at the Strand is set for April 27 of next year. Tickets went on sale today to Strand members; no word yet on when they’ll be available to the general public.

Given the “Celebrate Motown” theme, the show is sure to feature the Idols performing hits by Smokey Robinson, The Jackson Five, Diana Ross, The Temptations and Stevie Wonder.

But the promo on the Stand site also promises that the Idols will sing some of their own music, as well as songs that helped make them popular on the show.

Tickets appear to be priced at $27, $36 and $39. Go here for details on the show and how to become a Strand member.
