Four more singers earned spots in the live playoffs on The Voice Tuesday night.
That means we now know the identity of 15 of the 24 artists who will be singing for our votes in two weeks.
Kameron Marlowe snagged a steal from Adam Levine during Tuesday’s episode. That means Jennifer Hudson has the only save left heading into next week’s final knockouts.
Meanwhile, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson have yet to use their saves.
Here’s where the live playoff lineups stand after two nights of knockout round matches.
Team Adam: Radha, Reagan Strange, Tyke James, Kameron Marlow (stolen from Team Blake)
Team Blake: Dave Fenley, Funsho, Natasia Greycloud (stolen from Team Kelly)
Team Jennifer: Franc West, Mckenzie Thomas, Patrique Fortson, Sandy Redd
Team Kelly: Abby Cates, Keith Paluso (stolen from Team Adam), Kymberli Joye, Zaxai
Now, a recap from Tuesday’s show.
WELL DESERVED STEAL
TEAM BLAKE SHELTON
The matchup: Dave Fenley vs. Kameron Marlowe
The songs: Dave, “Stuck on You” by Lionel Richie; Kameron, “I Shot the Sheriff” by Eric Calpton / Bob Marley.
The background: Dave, the show’s oldest singer at 40, turned two chairs in the blinds. He won a battle with Keith Paluso. Kameron turned two chairs; then won a battle with Kayley Hill.
The outcome: Blake declared Dave the winner; Kameron was stolen by Adam
Voice Views take: Yes, that was a Lionel Richie tune Dave just pulled off quite impressively with that raspy voice of his. Hey, and major kudos to Kameron for the way he changed up, and injected more energy, into a pretty laid-back Eric Clapton hit. But Dave’s cover came off a little more genuine, and I think he’s the one who with the more distinct voice of the two. Not to mention the type of veteran performer I think Voice fans are likely to embrace when the voting begins. Blake made the right choice. That said, it was nice to see Kameron rescued by Adam.
THE COACHES GOT IT RIGHT
TEAM JENNIFER HUDSON
The matchup: Franc West vs. Tyshawn Colquitt
The songs: Franc, “Call Out My Name” by The Weeknd; Tyshawn, “Pillowtalk” by Zayn
The background: Franc turned a single chair in the blinds; then won his battle with Matt Johnson. Tyshawn turned two chair sin the blinds; then won his battle with Zaxai.
The outcome: Jennifer declared Franc the winner; Tyshawn was eliminated
Voice Views take: Mariah and Jennifer were impressed with how Franc put his own spin on the song. And with good reason. He turned in an impassioned performance. Tyshawn showed great range and came on especially strong over the last 45 seconds of his cover. But Franc seemed to have a slightly better game plan for where he was going and a little more control.
TEAM KELLY CLARKSON
The matchup: Abby Cates vs. Clair Dejean
The songs: Abby, “Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson; “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” by Shawn Mendes
The background: Abby, 17, turned a single chair in the blinds; then won her battle with Delaney Silvernell. Claire, 17, turned two chairs in the blinds, then won her battle round match with Josh Davis.
The outcome: Kelly declared Abby the winner, Claire was eliminated
Voice Views take: Kelly said she paired the two teens up because they both fall in the soulful pop vein. Claire picked a challenging song and couldn’t quite corral it. Abby turned in a brilliant version of the Kelly Clarkson hit. That was easily her best performance of the competition. That ending was simply wonderful.
