Like many of his Season 14 The Voice colleagues, Gary Edwards plans to use his time on the show as a springboard to releasing original music.

But he also has his sight set on another destination: Broadway.

Gary, from Dallas, was 26 when he auditioned for The Voice and landed a spot on Team Adam Levine.

He wound up making it all the way to the live playoffs before being eliminated earlier this week.

Here’s what Gary told Voice Views about his time on the show and his plans moving forward.

Voice Views: What’s next for you as an artist? And do you envision releasing new music soon? If so, can you tell me about that? Either what you have planned or what you’d like to do? And what sound fans can expect?

Gary: I really want to try my hand in theater. Broadway has always been a huge interest and dream for me. I’ve been prepping myself with dance and acting courses so that I can be ready. As far as music goes I plan on releasing a project in the inspirational / Christian genre. When is a good question, but know it will be soon.

Voice Views: How do you think your career — and any music you release in the future — will be affected by The Voice experience? If so, how?

Gary: It’s my talent resume. Being on the show allows me to be searchable. And that’s half the battle. Half the time people who matter can’t find you. Now I can say google me. That’s major. And because I was so versatile on the show I cover most questions of what I can do.

Voice Views: During the playoffs, we didn’t get to hear about the thought process behind the song choices. Can you explain yours a bit? And how do you think those performances went for you?

Gary: “Finesse” wasn’t a song choice of mine but I went with it because I felt it would be a good way to show that I can entertain and engage a crowd outside of a spotlight and ballad.

“America The Beautiful” was my choice and I figured at this time in our countrys history anything that makes us unite and count the blessings is a good choice. You have to visualize beautiful before you become it. And I hope for a moment I allowed the dream of what we could be as a nation.

Voice Views: What was your favorite performance from the show and why?

Gary: I loved Terrence’s take on “Ain’t Nobody.” It was PERFECT! The changes in the chord progressions were unreal! His voice is so captivating and I can’t wait till he releases a project.

For myself, It would have to be my battle with Angel. Such a wonderful moment that should have been shown. I felt for her, she worked so hard and was montaged twice. And, socially, it would have broken some barriers.

Voice Views: That was a new playoff format this season. What did you think of it and would you recommend any changes for future seasons?

Gary: I felt rushed. And to be honest, I didn’t really like it. But that’s my opinion.

Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?

Gary: They gave a young kid from Inkster, Mich., a chance to catch his dreams. And I can never repay them for that. Grateful.
