Jamella from Season 14 of The Voice has released her first post-show single.

Though she made it all the way to the knockout round, we barely met Jamella on Season 14 of The Voice because two of her three performances was montaged.

But the young woman from Mission Viejo, Calif., is determined to make a name for herself in music, beginning with the catchy new pop/R&B single she released Friday.

Jamella told Voice Views she wrote that single — “Love n Hate” — with award-winning producer Thaddeus Dixon.

“I think a lot of people can relate to it,” she says of “Love n Hate.” “There’s moments where you wonder if you should still be with someone (in a relationship) or even be friends with someone, so this song is universal to me when it comes to the topic.”

Though The Voice experience didn’t go quite as Jamella had hoped — montaged artists get only a few seconds of screen time — “music is something I’ve always done and will continue to do,” she said. “And in the words of (Voice coach) Kelly Clarkson and (Voice knockout round mentor) Cassadee Pope, this won’t be the last time you hear from me.”

In fact, she says “Love n Hate” is part of a “way bigger project.” She’s already working on another song that will also feature an as-yet-unnamed rap duo.

“And so far it’s absolutely amazing,” Jamella said. “I can’t wait for it to cross over in the hip-hop genre aside from its pop/rnb sound.”

Jamella’s full name is Jamella Marie Perkins and back in 2006 she became the then-youngest singer to perform the national anthem at an NBA playoff game.

She was 21 when she auditioned for The Voice with “Dive” by Ed Sheeran and earned a spot on Team Kelly Clarkson. She was eliminated in the knockout round when she was pitted against eventual champ Brynn Cartelli.

You can keep up with Jamella through her Facebook page and Instagram account. On Twitter, she’s @JmpSings.

Here’s “Love n Hate,” which is also available on iTunes and Apple Music.
