Now she’s released her third video of the year, defiantly letting an ex-lover know about the impact he’s had on her in a song called “Blue.”
The video, which you can check out below, was filmed by Mal Gates for Heat Factory Films and produced by Digital Crates for Rawlife Records.
Gina says 2017 “has been wild for me.” She released her debut album, “My Weakness” in mid-February. Just five months later, she was back with album number two, “Free Your Soul.”
“I have grown lyrically and emotionally,” Gina said told Voice Views. “My first album showed a lot of insecurities and immaturity about love. I was very confused and in a relationship that I did not really understand why I was feeling the way I was.
“When I was writing ‘Free Your Soul,’ I had gotten to a point in my life when I could step out of my comfort zone and be single and confident. I did not need someone to help me up; I could do that for myself.”
Which is just the attitude she depicts in “Blue,” one of the songs from that second album.
And, yep, the young woman from West Chester, Pa., is already working on album number three. But this one might not turn around quite as quickly.
Gina says she wants to take some time to develop a larger fan base around the music she’s already released. She has a couple of shows coming up later this month, including one on Nov. 22 also featuring collaborator Lauren Lindley at Chaplins in the Philly suburbs. And she’s appearing on Sinister Girlz in New York on Dec. 1.
Gina, also a student at James Madison University, said her upcoming album “heads back to a My Weakness vibe where my emotions are raw and true. I want to take my time working on this album because it is the one I know I am the most proud of lyrically.”
Gina competed on Season 10 of The Voice as Gina Castanzo. She’s since shortened her stage name to Gina Zo.
Here’s the new video, presented with an explicit lyric warning. And there’s nothing wrong with your audio; the first 30 seconds or so are silent.
