Update: Pre-orders for “A Good Storm” are underway on Sawyer’s website.
Plenty of options are available, including a deluxe package that includes the CD, a signed poster and a T-shirt. That will cost you $39.98.
Head to the website, and you’ll also see the album’s song list. A bit of bad news: The 11 tracks include the four from Sawyer’s November EP and two versions of a tune called “4 Pockets,” meaning there are really only six new songs.
Oh, well, I’m still looking forward to hearing those six.
Original blog: Sawyer Fredericks fans got the news they’ve been waiting for.
The singer-songwriter’s first full-length album will be released May 13.
And for those who just can’t wait, pre-orders for “A Good Storm” will begin Monday on his website.
No word yet on whether a song will be offered as an instant download for those who pre-order, but I’ll be surprised if that doesn’t happen.
The release date comes just one week before the one-year anniversary of Sawyer’s landslide victory on Season 8 of The Voice.
To get fans psyched up, Sawyer has offered a playlist of songs that inspired the album on Spotify.
“Not all these songs had a conscious influence on this album, but I’m influenced by everything I listen to, to some extent, and these are some artists I listened to a lot during the times I was writing the songs on the album,” Sawyer wrote on Facebook.
“Some of these songs were more of a release of tension for me — a kind of therapy for the stresses and pressure that came along with the excitement and blessings of the last year.”
Sawyer was just 15 when he auditioned for The Voice and turned all four chairs.
On the finals began, he had nine straight songs — including his debut single “Please” — land in the Top 10 on the iTunes singles chart.
He’s already released a handful of songs since, beginning with “Forever Wrong,” which hit iTunes in November as part of the soundtrack for the Mitch Albom’s novel, “The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto.”
Then came an impressive four-song EP, highlighted by a duet with fellow Season 8 contestant Mia Z on a song called “Stranger.”
Speaking of Mia, Sawyer is currently on a West Coast tour. And guess who’s his opening act?
