Colton Smith from The Voice Season 15 released his debut album this week.

Season 15 Voice standout Colton Smith has a few reasons to celebrate these days.

He’s about to move to Los Angeles, where he’ll be represented by The Wayne Agency.

Oh, and he just released his debut album, a nine-song collection called “Destroyed” that landed Thursday.

Colton, 22, describes the album as a passion project that stemmed from his very first heartbreak back in 2015 and “turned into an entire project based on lost love in every form imaginable.”

Two of the songs — “Everybody Knows” and “I’ll Cry” — were released back in January; the former is about Colton’s experience coming out as a gay male “and learning to love myself in a time when everyone told me it was wrong.”

In keeping with the album’s theme, Colton pointed to “Shatter Me” and “I Can’t Love You” as two songs about past relationships.

“‘Shatter Me’ is about a relationship I had that was going really well. I freaked out in classic Colton fashion (haha) and the song is me kind of pleading with him to give me a reason to break up with him because I couldn’t handle the thought of it working,” he says.

“‘I Can’t Love You’ is about a guy I really cared about but we just didn’t work. We were perfect on paper but I just couldn’t love him. Pretty sad.”

“I Can’t Love You” is also one of three songs on the album written after Colton appeared on The Voice. Another is the glorious “What Happens When the Sky Runs Out of Rain,” which you can check out below. It highlights the passionate delivery and range Colton displayed on the show.

And there was certainly nothing sad about Colton’s Voice experience. A one-chair turn in the blind auditions, he wound up being stolen twice and made it all the way to the Top 24.

He’s pretty excited about the future too. The Alabama native and former Belmont University student announced the management deal and his impending move to L.A. about a week ago.

“I am so stoked to be moving to the West Coast,” he told Voice Views. “After lots of long talks with family and friends and lots of praying I realized that all signs were pointing to Los Angeles.

“I’m really a feelings person — if you couldn’t tell by this super sad album — so when something feels right, my mind is usually made up. I’m really excited for what is coming. Can’t wait for the adventure.”

You can keep track of Colton via his website and Instagram.
